Classic & Sports Car – Get behind the scenes at Vauxhall Heritage

You have a rare chance to step inside Vauxhall's Heritage Centre next month – and admission is free!

On 10 June, coinciding with the Luton Festival of Transport, the centre's 75 vehicles spanning the company's 115-year history will be on display.

These will include the first Vauxhall, which was a 5hp, single-cylinder, chain-driven ‘horseless carriage’, right up to the latest 600hp VXR8 GTS-R.

It's 25 years since Vauxhall's Heritage Centre opened and 2018 marks the quarter-century of the Corsa, too, four generations of which will be on show in June.

Other notable anniversaries ripe for celebrating this year include the 55th birthday of the Viva, four decades years since the first Chevette HS and 35 years since the first Astra GTE.

Or check out the 100-year old D-type Staff Car from WW1, or the L-Type Wyvern which will be there to represent 70 years since Vauxhall stopped building WW2 tanks and returned to car production at Luton.

Concepts, classics and much more – there will be something for everyone

It's not just production cars, either. The spectacular SRV Concept from 1970 (pictured above) will also be present, plus the XVR and VX Lightning concepts – it's the largest Vauxhall collection in the world!

The Vauxhall Heritage Centre Open Day will be held on Sunday 10 June 2018 between 10am and 4pm, with refreshments available all day.

Parking is free and the centre is at Park Street, Luton, LU1 3HG.
